When high school junior Ron Davis, an exceptional football player, moves in next door to varsity hopeful freshman Sonny Manning they team up to bring Jackson High to its first ever State Playoff. The school and the small town of Bay City is elated with the prospect of a State Championship, but during the holiday break tragedy strikes causing Sonny’s team mates, Jackson High and Bay City to turn against Sonny.
